Am: Ran up Smith Mesa, 3 miles up, 3miles down (6 miles total) It was really steep! I averaged 10 min miles going up and 5:30 min miles going down. So approximately 49 minutes. Which I am pretty proud of :) The first mile was tough, but then I thought about how easy it was in comparison to the Running camp I went to last week, and I got a second wind. Coming back down the hill was a breeze, I felt really good this workout.

NOTE TO SELF: Get more sleep

Ran 1.5 miles easy around my house

PM: 2.5 Miles easy plus hardcore weight lifting at Cross Country, I felt great, but kind of got light headed near the end. I think I just needed more water

NOTE TO SELF: Drink more water.

AM: 1.5 mile easy, 3 miles tempo, 1.5 miles easy, and 2*200+2*100m sprints

I was feeling good today, no soreness, and felt pretty strong this morning. We practiced our cross country course, and it was fun, so I'm excited for the race this saturday.

PM: Water exercises in pool for about an hour, and 3.5 miles easy.

AM: 1.5 miles easy, 4*.65 miles hard, 1.5 miles easy, and 200/100m sprints.

We ran over to the park then we did intervals on our cross country meet course, but we just went around the park instead of doing the whole loop. It was about .65 miles and I did each one between 3:05-3:15, I'm guessing, my coach timed my first one at 3:08, and I know I went about the the same for the others, but she forgot to time the others so I'm not quite sure :) But I felt really good despite lack of sleep, I love doing intervals, so far I'm the only person I know that likes them, I think there really fun, but painful, I like to think I'm really good at going high intensities for a period of time, getting short to medium rest and be able to do the next one just as fast.

PM: Weightlifting, circuit training, it felt really good and I like weight lifting so it was fun, plus I did 2 miles of easy running

We did 2 miles easy, Hill Sprints, about 2*2 minutes and 5*1 minute (Jog back between reps for rest), 1.5 miles easy, then I did a 1.5 mile easy run a bit later after practice.

I felt really good in the warm up,  but then I think the heat started to get to me a bit, and I started to get a bit lightheaded but other than that, I've been feeling good lately, I do think I need more sleep or something because I don't feel like I have much energy, and I feel kind of lazy sometimes, but it's not anything to complain about.

PM: Me, Taylor, and Austin ran 7 miles to farmers market and back to deliver thank you notes it was like 110 degrees outside, I thought I was going to die. But at least I got in some decent miles today, I might go out for another couple of miles tonight to catch up my mileage, and cool down for the day.

RACE: Great race, really fun, felt good. I started the race really good, I don't know how exactly I did it but it's not like I really started out to fast, I just ended up in the front, and I'm used to everyone going out super fast, and I usually end up getting caught up in the pack. I got to the turn around point, (about .8 miles into the race) and I was in the lead, I probably shouldn't of went out quite so fast the first mile, but I still felt strong the whole race. But anyways I make the turn and I'm in first so I'm thinking "Wow, I'm doing really good I might be able to place in the top 3!" And then all of a sudden Mike from PV, and Jason from dixie both zoom by me from both sides of me, at the same time, as if they planned it. I think both Dixie and Pine View are plotting against me, just kidding... but seriously :) It's interesting, when you race in the middle or back of the pack, people start to slow down as the race gets going, when you race in the front of the pack, the race doesn't even start till the 2nd mile apparently. But anyways about my race, I slowed down a little bit that 2nd mile, so I think Mike and Jason have a good plan, take it easy that first mile, and then have a strong 2nd when everyone else is slowing down, I need to try that. But then the third mile I started to pick it up again, and I passed a kid, and slowly started to make ground on Casey, but then every time we went up hill he would start to open up the gap a bit, but then when we were running flat, or downhill I'd start to catch back up. I don't know, I guess he's just really good at doing hills, and then when we got to the top of the last hill to the last like .5 miles to the finish which was just one long downhill stretch to the finish I started moving up again, and I was thinking I could catch him but I just ran out of time, I still got a good place, and beat last years time by a minute, so it was a good race, I felt good the whole way, even near the end, when it started to hurt, I've noticed that now that I'm getting older It's getting easier to push myself, it still hurts really bad, but It's easier to hurt that bad, usually now when I get done with a race it's like, eh, I've felt worse, and then I shake it off.

PM: I did an hour of cross training, biking, arm exercises, and core workouts.

ya :) i have tried that stagety the past two races and i have liked it a lot. it works well when it is a smaller race but i think the more people there is in the race the less that way will work. you did super good saturday, i was pretty impressed.

Nice job on the race. With even more experience you will learn what works best for you as far as strategy. Like was said a lot depends on who else is in the race, how big the race is, what kind of course it is. Also, the more you race the more you find out what you are good at and what you need to work on.

AM: This morning we were just doing 4 miles, and me and Taylor went super fast, I guess we were just feeling really good, we finished the route in 23 minutes! I don't understand how Taylor kept for me considering that's like his race pace! For some reason he can run so fast in practices, but then race a minute slower than me...I don't know?

PM: We ran 6 miles pretty easy about 43 and a half minutes in the heat, then ran a 200 and 100m sprints, and I did a few miles of light jogging by myself.

AM: We did a 4 mile tempo run, and Kaden (who is graduated) came to workout with us, and he stayed with me the whole way until the last little bit, but I think I killed him :) He was in pain, and was bent over panting like crazy when we got done, I kind of feel bad, apparently he hasn't been running much lately. But anyways it was a good workout Taylor said he finished in 24 minutes, but he had to go to the bathroom so he slowed down a bit and me and Kaden got a little bit ahead, so I think we got closer to 23 minutes, for some reason I always end up going super fast in the mornings.

PM: We did a half mile warmup then ran 1.5 miles to Iverson hill, and did 5 sprints all the way up, about 200m, and then we did 8 sprints about halfway up, and then 1.5 miles back (which hurt more than the hill sprints themselves). Then we did a half mile cool down, I didn't feel the best this workout, because my legs felt heavy, but I do know I'm a lot faster at hills then I was last year.

AM: No practice :( Rest day.

PM: .5 mile warm up (.75 if you count the speed walking to the grass :) ) We went to the grass next to the baseball field and did 10*400's in the grass, but coach said it was a bit longer than 400's which made sense, for the not super impressive times. 1:21, 1:19, 1:18, 1:20, 1:20, 1:19, 1:21, 1:20, 1:20, 1:15. I'm reciting these by memory but I know it's something like that, coach said I better go faster the last one, because she was getting sick of saying 1:20 every time :) It was this muddy grass field with tight turns, so it hurt... a lot! the last one I thought I'd be funny and dove at the end, haha, but to be honest I kind of didn't want to get back up. And then somebody had the bright idea of running our 1.5 mile cool down on the road, where rocks where everywhere...NOT! It hurt worse than the workout, my feet are still in pain :) Then we did some strides on the football field. And I did a little extra running around my house to get today's mileage at least at 6 miles today. Taylor said he would call me and we might run an easy trail run tonight, but I doubt it will happen, no offense if your reading this Taylor :)

AM: We ran 4 miles at the Sky Mountain golf course this morning, I went a pretty decent pace around 7 minute mile on rolling hills (It's a hilly golf course) not big hills, just a lot of them. But Jesse was running ahead of me and Taylor, and I was joking by saying he probably thinks we're just doing one loop, instead of two, so anyways we get to the point were you start the second loop and he turned to where we finish at the parking lot, haha, apparently he really did think we were only doing one lap, so then I picked up the speed the second loop and finished at a decent pace. I always like to run the first have of my runs in practice slower than the second. The way I view it is if you run super fast the first half of the run (like a lot of people on my team try to do) you end hurting and have to slow down the second halve, and the whole run your in pain, and your legs will end up more sore. But if you start of comfortably, then go faster the last half, then you only hurt the last little bit, plus you get faster less tiring workouts.

PM: We had a planking competition, and this kid that's on the soccer team who joined recently planked for 16 MINUTES...CRAZY! Then we did a 6 miler, but about 3 miles into the run I had to go to the bathroom, so I stopped at the Tanner Butler's house (a teammate who is now graduated) but the only person that answered the door was his little brother who doesn't know me...well anyways I won't get to specific just know it was embarrassing. But when I got back on the road I was feeling great, and picked up the pace, and surprisingly still beat a few people. Then  when I got home I did some light jogging to cool down for the day.

Night: Did some circuit training with my Dad and my cousin, and I paced her in some running workouts.

AM: I felt soooo tired when I woke up, and for some strange reason I had trouble breathing, we played some running games in cross country this morning, and I felt awful :( When I went to school I kept on thinking about going home I my head killed, my nose was really runny, and my throat hurt to swallow... But I'm pretty sure I will be better by tommorrow...I hope. Usually when I get sick it doesn't last a long time, plus none of those factors affect my time, so I can always just suck it up and still race well tomorrow.

PM: I did a couple of miles at the grass next to my house. And then a few sprints, still feel sick, but I think I'll get better.

AM: Another 4 mile tempo, but this time I only did it in 24:30, I have a long run this afternoon so I didn't to kill myself out. I was feeling still a bit sick, but once I got running I started to feel better.

PM: 10 miles (if you count warm up and cool down) It was really hot! But on the way me Taylor, and Austin took a quick detour, and jumped in the hallawell pool, it felt AMAZING! Then the rest of the way we just cruised, I'm glad Taylor and Austin are getting so much better, because now I actually have someone to run with. So much more fun to run with other people. The last mile I had to go to the bathroom really bad, but I was so close to being done I just dealt with it, but other than that I felt great! We did the 8.5 mile route in 57 minutes, which is actually pretty good if you consider it also takes account the heat, jumping inside a pool, drink stops, and having to go to the bathroom real bad the whole run

PM: We ran our warm ups, did ab workouts and some drills, we did a few accelerations, then a 1.5 mile run to Pa tempe Hill, and we did hill sprints, It was really nice because it was shaded. 4 long sprints up to the top, and 4 short sprints, about halfway, I felt pretty good and when I got back to the track I felt so good I decided I better take advantage of that and do some 200's on the track, which felt great.

PM: At school I was feeling like crap, but then right as I got on the track doing warm ups I immediately felt great, we did just 35 minutes of pretty fast paced running, and I was feeling amazing, WATCH OUT SUU, I am going to kill the steeplechase when we do it during track, I've been practicing, during every run I am constantly jumping over everything like trash cans and fences, I'm getting good at it :) Then after practice I did some 400s on the track, don't know what times, I forgot to bring my watch, so I just went fast, and I felt great! But then when I stopped running I feel sick again... I don't understand! I guess I just need to keep exercising.

Tomorrow we're doing Mile repeats, and coach says I can do six of them, last year we only did three (I LOVE mile repeats) I'm excited!

AM: 4 Miles around the Sky Mountain Golf Course

PM: This was the most successful/hardest workout of my life :) I love mile repeats, we jogged over to the elementary school on this grass course, and did our mile repeats,           2 laps=1mile, and I asked coach, and she let me do 6 of them 1st mile: 5:17, 2nd: 5:18, 3rd: 5:21, 4th: 5:23, 5th: 5:23, 6th: 5:13. By the time it was the last one, I was hurting, but I wanted to run faster than my first one, so I decided to run the first lap conservatively, then when I got to the turn around of the second lap (last 400m) I knew I could cut of quite a bit of time if I sprinted, so I came around my first lap in 2:38, and I was hurting, I had doubts I could repeat that same time, as I came around the turnaround, the last 400meters I glanced at my watch and saw that I had only 1:15 left if I wanted to get a 5:17, so I knew I could sprint it that fast, and I took of (I felt like throwing up) and sprinted in a 5:13, meaning I ran a 1:11 last 400 :)  (That's like my mile pace). It was the BEST workout ever!

RACE REPORT: Well lets just say I was being a wuss, I haven't been feeling well so I just kind of gave up, but considering the circumstances I'm not going to complain too much, about half way through the race, I had to pretty much slow down to a stop, because I was coughing so bad I couldn't seem to breath, I felt like I ran the race with no oxygen. After that I pretty much just stopped trying, I just wanted to get the race over.

I train hard, I always felt like I've had good/positive mental strength which has helped me race well when it mattered (even though the past 2 races I've kind of contradicted myself on that statement), and most importantly I love to run, I love to work hard, and I have a strong desire to want to be the best. Mike (Mike Finch) your my role model, your a great runner, your positive, and humble, and nice, and even when your having a bad day you always seem to pull of an amazing race, your the champion I want to be like man. I know I can do SO much better, and starting now you have my word...I WILL. If I want to be as good as I think I can be, and someone that somebody looks up to someday, I got to start acting like a winner. Acting. Training. Racing like a champion, so Mike...Casey, don't count me out because I think I might pull a few surprises this year, I know I have it in me :)

If anyone wonders why Pine View has such a good team, I know why, you guys work hard, you guys have a great team, and I look forward to see you guys excel at state this year :)

We did (pretty much) 1000m repeats (it was .6 miles), but it was on the road, my splits were 3:03, 3:00, 3:05, 3:00, and 3:03, then we did (.4 miles) which equates to about 650m in 1:56, 1:55, 1:57, and 1:47 all with short rest, I came really close to throwing up, and had like a coughing attack at the end. You know how some people have problems with injuries, I've never had an injury (which is pretty impressive considering I've been running since I was 8, and have completed 3 marathons, and too many halves to count.) I have problems with being sick apparently, IT WON'T GO AWAY, its been about 2 weeks now, and it's really starting to get annoying now.

AM: 4 miles Golf course loops, so it turns out me and Austin thinking we were way ahead of everyone were going slow, but we thought we were going fast, and when we come for our second loop we look back, and we're like, where is everyone, are they only doing one lap? So we were confused the whole time because there was no one, and apparently we were going REALLY slow (I usually have no idea what pace I'm doing in the mornings, because I'm so tired.) Anyways by the time we get back coach is waiting for us in the car and asked us if we got lost or something, it turns out all of the varsity runners finished the run and already went home... I have no idea how they got ahead of us :)

PM: 4 miles easy, it turns out I'm notorious for starting out super slow, and still ending up being the first one done, it just takes me so long to get warmed up. Then we did some speed work on the track, we did 2*300+3*200+4*100's which hurt considering I have been feeling very ill, I'm thinking it's a reaction to may training, because I don't really get sore any more, so I just kept on training, never really rested, but I am just constantly tired, and sick, so I'm thinking I just need to take it easy this week, and hopefully I will be ready by Monday.

Pm: Well I know this kind of sounds lame but I was Trevor's houses were we were playing football for like 2 hours, and then I went to Shelby's house where I ended up being chased. I know I at least got in like 1.5 miles in all that.

The reason for the extremely small mileage this week is because I've been sick for over 2 weeks so I was talking with my Mom (who is also my assistant coach), and my coach, and we decided that I just really need to rest this week and hopefully I will be a lot better by next week.

Las Vegas Invitational: It was awesome, best race this season, It's nice to finally have had a good race, after so many bad ones. I made a promise to myself to make sure I was going to have a good race, no matter what, even in the worse conditions if I was to still go hard, I would be happy, and I did it. I have still been kind of sick feeling, not as bad as it was during Dixie, I think the rest is helping me, but I still can't get rid of my cough. Anyways it was a huge race, about 250 people at the starting line there was the large school and the small school division. And so I was 18th over all, but 3rd in the small school. It was a great race, the start was so hectic, it was really wide for the first 100m but then it funnels into this really small road, where I was getting elbowed and pushed like crazy! But it's alright I like more aggressive races. It was a true 5k, maybe a tiny bit longer I suspect, but it was ran in loose dirt most of the race, but I realized that if you ran more onto the outside it's more compacted so I decided I would rather run on the outside of the dirt road and maybe run a little farther, than run through loose sand. I felt weird because I was the only one doing that, but it worked for me. Everyone at the start took off sprinting, and I was like in the middle to back pack the first little bit, but once I hit the first mile when all of the "sprinters" are dying out, I started to move up like crazy, I was passing somebody like every second. And right at about 4000m coach told me that this kid about 5-6 places in front of me is in the small school division, so I had to pass him. I got a second wind and I was just flying, I felt so good I started passing everyone I caught Victor Medina from Canyon View, and he started to move up with me, but then he fell back. I passed the kid that coach told me to get, and I felt really good about that and then I just kept moving up, finished in 17:53, which isn't that fast of time, but I was talking to this kid that's from the team that's like hosting the meet and he said the course is really slow, he said it's a minute slower than the average 5k. So all in all it was a great race, I probably past like 15 kids the last 1000m.

PM: We ran up thrill hill, arlington hill, and Devils throne hill, and back. I am sooooo mad. I thought for sure I was don being sick, I woke up feeling great, but then right as the run started it just went downhill, (actually, more like up hill), my headache continued, and coming up Devil's throne hill, I was coughing so bad I couldn't breath and actually had to stop and walk to catch my breath. I have never walked during a run! I am done with this, I don't care what I do to get rid of it now, I just want it gone, I'm thinking about setting up an appointment with a doctor to get rid of this, I don't really believe in taking pills and stuff, but I don't care any more, I've been sick for 2 1/2 weeks, and it's getting dangerously close to 3, I am done with this.

We did ladders on the track, I love them, we did 100-200-300-400-500-600-500-400-300-200-100m I don't know what times I was getting, but I know I was going fast, by how far ahead of everyone else, it's funny the longer the distance the bigger a lead I end up having, on the 100m I was actually beat by Austin, the 200m I barely beat Austin and Jesse, the 400m I was like 3 seconds ahead, then by the time it got to the 600m I was like almost a whole 100m in front! I love interval type work, especially if it's on the track, I LOVE the track. I didn't notice being sick to much, but it's still kind of hard to breath, it feels like I have asthma or something. I swear my heart rate was easily above 200 bpm like the whole workout, I felt like my heart was going to explode, it was a great workout, I'm excited for track this year, track is my favorite.

We did a six mile run with 10 surges throughout it (10 sprints about 100-200m) And we were about done, and all of a sudden we here Jesse yelling, so we turn around and see him limping in pain, so I decided that we should carry him like a chariot, so we each grabbed a limb, and lifted him with one arm and ran with him all the back to the school like 600 meters. Haha it was really funny seeing coaches face as we got back to the track carrying Jesse and running.

We ran up ciminal? I don't know that's just what they called it it's this huge hill that's like agonizing trying to get to the top without walking on the way back there was this barbed wire fence and I without even slowing speed jumped over it, I did not realize how high it was until I got to it, I barely made it over! Taylor, Austin, and Jesse, all stopped and were in shock how I made it over it was crazy! And so then I was pumped full of confidence, and KC told me a few weeks ago that if I jumped over the fence beside the track she would make me  a pie, so I did it, and now she owes me :)

I'm still trying to keep my mileage low, so I can hopefully stop being sick, it's been 3 weeks and counting, but it's just subsided to a lot of coughing now, especially when I'm running... It's really annoying.

Nebo Invitational: I started out my first mile WAY to fast, I think I was around like 5:05 or something like that, then when I got to my last mile I felt like I was trying to move through a brick wall! I couldn't quite seem to move. But it was a good race I pushed myself hard, it's just that I ran stupid. I shouldn't try to go out with such a fast pace, I should try the Jason Quinn style, start out easy pass me with about a mile left and somehow still end up placing really good. At the finish I used my sprint finish strategy which ALWAYS works, I am still looking for the day that someone will beat me at the finish, this is what always seems to happen I start sprinting, and if someone is right next to me, we both take off full speed, I let him get just enough of a lead that he thinks he has it, then almost always they slow, and that is when I pounce and nip in the win. I don't really mean to do that but it just happens naturally. I feel bad though because I feel like it's not the most fair way to win, but hey it works :) . It was nice to have Casey pushing me the whole time, coach told me I had to beat him so I made sure I did my best to try that :) Casey... I've been trying to beat you this whole season so I am so glad I had you at that race, because I was really wanting to just die out a few times but I made sure I gave it everything to try and stay right behind you, haha I got a little bit lucky this time I'm looking forward to racing against you in the future, Cedars going to be EPIC!

Haha, thanks Mike... I'm really sorry I didn't mean to be rubbing it in, I just have been really trying hard to beat him so I got a little eager, but I didn't mean to sound prideful or anything, I guess I just seem that way sometimes, because I try to make sure I stay really confident. And yes you and Casey (and pretty much your whole varsity) are LEGIT runners. I got lucky this race and I might not be so much next time I enjoy racing with him because he pushes me hard. He's beaten me far more times than I've beat him, therefore he is the better runner. I have a lot to learn still, so thanks for letting me know to tone down my pride :)

It's funny racing those types of races, it's one of those right when you start the race everyone takes off at a full sprint, then you end up running by yourself after the first 200m about when they realize that they probably shouldn't of token off so fast :) I didn't have anyone around me so a few times I got scared I was going the wrong direction, but it was nice, more of a tempo race, rather than a give it everything you've got type things.

PM: I was doing a 7 mile tempo run, and I made sure I stayed focused and kept my head clear, and my form smooth. That's one of my problems during races is that I tense up and my brain gets all fuzzy, which throws any form of tactics out the door, so I will start working on that in my workouts. Stay relaxed and focused. Then when I got done I just did everyone's cool down laps with them just to get a longer more relaxing cool down.

To be honest I didn't quite hit all of those 30's especially on the 40-30-40-30 set, but I at least tried and got pretty close. The last one though I ran the 40 second 200m right on, then sprinted as fast as I could and turned out a 1:06 lap meaning my last 200m had to be at least close to 26 seconds, I pretended like I was in the last 200m in a race so I gave it EVERYTHING. Great workout!

PM: We ran up and down smith mesa 3.25 miles straight up, then 3.25 miles straight down, we did this same workout at the start of the season, and she told us she was going to have us time it going up and down then we do it again near the end of the season, and to make goals. My goal was to run up it in under 30 minutes, and down it in under 17 minutes, at the start of the season I ran up in 32 minutes and down in 17:36, today I reached both my goals, I made it up in 29:54! I booked it at the end to make sure I made it, I can't believe I was so close! Then I made it down in 16:40, so 5k PR!!! I'm just kidding it was like straight down hill there is no way I'm counting that :)

I ran a mile from young men's to get home it was the leaders house so it was somewhat close to where I lived, so I decided just to run home rather than bother my mom for a ride.

We ran over to the splash pad where the grass is at and did 2 minutes run, 1 minute sprint, 1 minute walk, and we did that twice, then we did 1:45 run, 45 second sprint and did that 3 more times. then we ran a long cool down back we took a much longer route. Usually I would love the longer cool down, the only problem is, is a lot of people don't seem to quite understand the concept of a cool down and they all took off super fast. So me, being young and stupid and ultra competitive had to take off with them. But it was a good workout, although my hamstrings are SUPER sore from yesterdays run straight up and down that freaking 3.25 mile mountain (on a paved road, but hey, still a mountain...I guess if you get technical it's a mesa.) It is really hard for me to get sore I hardly ever get sore, so if I do it has to be a REALLY hard workout. I think it was because during track I would do like every single event every race (which probably isn't a good idea), so I got really good at quick recovery. Honestly, at one track meet I ran 11 events in ONE day I did the 100,200,400,800,1600,3200,110 hurdles,300 hurdles,4*100,4*400, and Long Jump all in a 5 hour track meet NO JOKE, it was a really stupid idea, but it was my favorite meet ever!

It was another great race! Ran a 15 again so I'm proud of it, but I can't help but think how much better I could have done if my first mile wasn't in 4:57, because then I must have slowed down to about 5:25's, so if I could of went out instead doing let's say 5:15's and kept that the whole way, then I would have ran like 10 seconds faster and got 3rd place instead. So I will make sure I keep my first mile controlled at regions, it will be a risky race. But anyways I am really happy with how it went, I pushed myself really hard, so I know I will do well next Tuesday, I just got to keep that top 10, and I will do just fine. I did finally beat Victor again, but then Bryan Pearson from Cedar edged me out, so I'm not sure where that came from? That's the confusing thing this year I will have somebody I can never beat, then I will finally beat them, but then randomly some kid that is usually like 15-20 seconds behind me will beat both of us. Which is why I am a bit worried for Regions.

I asked some people randomly in the hall ways, if they wanted to go for a run, because the other varsity guys "forgot their clothes", so I got some people that don't even hardly know how to run :) And I had David, so at least I had one other varsity member. I also yelled as loud as I could in the hallway, "party at Trevor's house at 6" (because his birthday is Sunday.) Just to see if it would work like it does in the movies, and it did! There was like 30 people that came, it was awesome! But anyways we did some 800's @5k pace, then did a 30 minute run.

I did a 30 minute fartlek type run, and practiced a few cross country starts, over at the grass near my house, I felt good, so I'm excited for Regions.

We did our warm up, then ran over to the church, where we did 3*400's @ 5k pace, 3*200's at probably mile pace. Then we ran the stake center loop (about 2.5 miles) and did our cool down laps on the track. My legs felt good, and fresh, and fast, I'm looking forward to regions tomorrow, my goals are to run sub 15:45, and get top 6, so we will see what happens tomorrow, hopefully I don't get nervous, and end up running sub 5 my first mile, I've got to just keep it under control. First mile mile be feeling good, second mile be feeling ok (ok in cross country meaning, which means you feel like crap, but you're not ready to puke yet), and the third mile give it my all, I've got to make sure I am at least in the top ten by the end of mile 2, before I make my move, and hopefully move up from there. So we'll see what happens!

Region 9 championships: Great race!!! I'm not sure what my time is exactly, so I just kind of guessed, but I'll get the official time later. Well, I was really worried about this race, and 2 hours before my knee started to for some reason hurt really bad, so I said a prayer and it went away, so I'm really thankful for that :) And during the race I got really nervous, with about a mile left I was in 15th place, and I didn't know if I had it in me to move up to that top 10 position (You have to get top ten to qualify for state), and the pain came, and bad. When I say this, I am not joking, and I don't mean to be cheesy, but that last probably 800m I legitimately had no physical body strength or will left in me, I ran on pure heart! (cheesy I know) The only drive I had left in my body was my need for success. It was like this out of body experience that was just really foreign to me. I couldn't really think the pain was almost unbearable, but my body wouldn't stop or slow, and somehow I found it in me to sprint at the end where I caught and passed Ben Powell from Desert Hills. I have always been good at pushing myself hard, but that was just strangely a-whole-'nother level. I may not have gotten quite the place or time I wanted, but I gave really close to my absolute all, honestly I ran as hard as I could today, and I wouldn't change a thing. Plus I'M GOING TO STATE!!! Yes! Hahaha, I'm really glad I pulled it off, I was really worried about that for a while :) I am really proud of my team, everyone ran a great race, and I just love everyone on my team, I'm so sad the season is going to end soon :( And I'm going to miss all of the seniors from my team, or other teams, that are going to graduate this year. I have made some great friends this year in cross country, and it's sad to know this was it with them in cross country. But great race, it was so much fun, I loved it!

Well I got my hip checked out, and I guess I over rotated my hip bone? And I sprained it, so he told me I shouldn't run on it for 2 weeks, but then I told him about state and he said I can race, but it's going to hurt really bad, it just shouldn't affect it long term. So I don't know, I just know this sucks!

My hip was feeling a bit better today, it still hurt to run, but at least I could run today. We did accelerations, then did 4 miles easy, then did a 200m fast. It hurts pretty bad, but it doesn't seem to mess my running up too bad.

I stayed up all night doing homework trying to get caught up before the end of the quarter, because state is happening during the last two days of school. So I was going to miss all of the tests and stuff. So it was kind of a rough day. We then drove up to BYU and ran on their track, I did 2 laps warmup, 3*400, 3*200, then two lap cool down. It was good, because I need some speed before my races. My hip was great at first, but after the last 200 it kind of started to act up a bit. So I was a bit worried for state.

STATE: Well it was a good race, never even noticed my hip so that was good, it was just that after the 1st mile my legs turned to concrete, and I felt like I could barely move them. Which I think probably would be the 4 straight days I did with no running this week. When I got on the track (last 150m of the race) I picked it up really good and passed some people so I'm happy with that. When I got finished and saw my time, I was actually quite surprised to see a pretty decent time. I honestly thought it was going to be like a 17. So it was good, and I had fun, but now I'm glad I can put cross country behind me and get focused for track, I am really excited for track!

I did a mile warm up, then 45 minutes pretty easy, then did 3*200's @ :29, then did 4*100m grass strides barefoot, and some leg swings, and then I did some weightlifting. It felt great! I've been strangely like depressed this past two weeks, I've kind of realized that without running I'm pretty much nothing. Wow! I've said some stupid things over those 2 awful weeks, I guess I get pretty moody when I don't run, so I'm glad I can finally get back to it.

It started to hurt quite a bit that last half mile, it felt good to go hard again! Then I did 3 *150m of the sprint-float-sprint drill, and 4*100m strides, some leg swings, stretching and a core workout, It's great to be back!

It was crazy we ran up mountains, and down them, and almost died a few times it was awesome, then I got back to the track and did 4* 300m cutdowns (where each one gets faster) and got :57, :52, :49, and :42, I PR'd on that last one I have never ran a 300 faster than that and it was after all of my workout. Then when Jesse got to the track we did 3*400m's @ 1:04, 3*300m @ :46, and 3*200m @ :29, I hit all of them pretty spot on time wise, but I ran my last 200 in :28. So it was a good workout, pretty tough, felt nice. Except for Jesse kind of threw up so I hope he's okay.

Which means my speed is coming along nicely. Then we went on a 1 hour 15 min run literally up and down a mountain. And Taylor actually left home because he thinks he has to get stitches, and we both stepped into a cactus. So that was fun. Then I got back and did 4*200's at  :28, :28, :29, :27, and finished up with 6*100m strides and about a mile cool down. Then I went home and did some weightlifting, so today was a good day!

I did my first fast 200 in :29, and finished the exercise with a 26.49 200, and it was funny during the first 800, I was doing it with David, and we figured out our times we should get so I started him 8 seconds before me so we'd finish at the same time. Well as I approached the first 200 having forgotten that the watch was 8 seconds slow I glanced down and saw a :43, so I freaked out and drastically picked up the pace to where I hit the first 400 in 1:18, realizing I had to drop a second I pushed it hard the last lap pretty much  sprinting in and come in at the appropriate time which was 2:32, only to then realize that I had actually ran it 8 seconds faster, haha, I can't believe I did that!
